The Wharton India Economic Forum (WIEF) is an annual student-run, India-focused conference hosted by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, bringing together business and political leaders, professionals, academics and students from around the world to discuss India’s evolution into a prominent global economic power, and the key challenges which it still faces.
Since its inception in 1996, WIEF has not only been the leading business forum focused on India in the United States, but is also one of the largest and most prestigious in the world. It is attended by over 500 people annually, and features renowned speakers who are at the forefront of India’s economic and business growth and development. WIEF has the long-standing support of the City of Philadelphia, with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter declaring March 23rd, 2013, the date of last year’s conference, as “India Day” in the city
